Coborn’s, Inc. is a Minnesota based company, the corporate headquarters located in St. Cloud. The business history goes back 100 years to 1921 when Chester Coborn opened a single produce market in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Today, Coborn’s, Inc. is a diverse, employee-owned, award-winning independent grocery retailer with over 8,000 employees serving 53 supermarkets across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin and operating under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Save-A-Lot and Marketplace Foods banners. Coborn’s, Inc. also owns stand-alone convenience, liquor, video and pharmacy locations. To support its 125 retail locations, Coborn’s, Inc. operates its own central bakery, dry cleaning facility and grocery distribution center.

The commitment to quality and service earned the esteemed recognition as Minnesota's 2008 Grocer of The Year. Coborn’s, Inc. was also recognized in 2010 as ‘Family Business of the Year for Community Service and Philanthropy’ by Minnesota Business magazine. In 2011, Coborn’s, Inc. was recognized as ‘Independent Retailer of the Year’ by Grocery Headquarters magazine.

 

A true pioneer in the grocery industry, Coborn's, Inc. was the first grocery retailer in the state of Minnesota to utilize scanning at its front-end checkouts starting in 1972. With that same pioneering spirit, in August, 2008, Coborn's acquired Minnesota's first Internet-based grocery delivery service in the Twin Cities. They have continued to expand the online shopping experience to additional communities to offer more customers the convenience of using their digital devices to place grocery orders for pick up at their local Coborn's store.
